I will be the first to admit it, Frankfurt is not on the stock-standard Europe-in-21 days tour itinerary for good reason. It does not have the lederhosen charm of Munich, the avant-garde “tear the wall down” pulse of Berlin or the beat of Hamburg. You will find no Disneyesque castles and the Main, well, the Main is not the Rhein. (OK, nothing matches the Rhein, at least that the the official line.) According to folk-lore Frankfurt is the city at the end of a runway, a miniature version of Chicago and a pinstriped banker’s paradise.
On Sunday I spent 7 hours exploring Mainhattan. I was armed only with my camera, my favourite pair of Campers (the comfortable ones) and an umbrella. And for these 7 hours I dissected the city with my lense. Pure pure bliss.
I will be the first to admit, yes, Frankfurt is not stock-standard. That’s just the way I love it.
