Welcome to my online gallery — a collection of some of my favourite photographs, taken around the globe.
I’d best describe myself as a photo enthusiast. I’ve been addicted to photography for more than twenty years. My earliest work was shot on a 35mm Minolta SLR (which I still own, and keep well protected). Those early frames remain exactly as they were taken — unedited, uncropped, un-Photoshopped.
In 2006 — it took me a while — I made the jump to digital and switched to Canon. My first digital camera was a Canon EOS 20D; I’m now shooting on the EOS 60D. More recently I’ve discovered just how versatile the iPhone can be, and almost everything on my Instagram feed is taken on my phone. My first love, though, remains my Canon SLR.
My family and I love to travel, and the photographs on this site have been taken across all six inhabited continents. If you asked me my speciality, I’d say architecture — but honestly, I simply shoot what I see.
I was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and lived there for most of my life. I’m now based in Bad Homburg, just outside Frankfurt am Main, Germany — though I’ll always remain African at heart.
Photography is my passion, and I look forward to sharing it with you. If you’d like to enquire about licensing or purchasing a print — or just to share a thought — I’d love to hear from you. I can be contacted at gidz@gideonfourie.com
